About Me

I am Philippa Matthews (many call me Pip). I am a Registered Adult Nurse BSc (Hons), registered hypnobirthing instructor , DipHB (KGH) and Mum of two gorgeous girls.

After attending a hypnobirthing course in 2015 when pregnant with our daughter, my husband and I were surprised that not everyone knew about this. I wanted to find a teacher training course to allow me to teach it to other mothers and their birth partners, having found our own hypnobirthing experience invaluable.

The practice my husband and I engaged in, in the lead up to our daughter’s birth brought us closer together, helped us prepare physically, psychologically and emotionally for the arrival of our little girl and enabled me to approach my birth confidently. It had such a positive impact in those first days/weeks as a new family.

KGH (Katherine Graves Hypnobirthing) is the only hypnobirthing course in the UK that is recognised and accredited by the Royal College of Midwives. The course is constantly evolving to keep up-to-date with the latest evidence and research, and is now taught internationally.

I currently work part-time as a general nurse on an acute surgical ward. Having recently completed my degree with the University of Chester, I felt this was the right time to start teaching something that I am truly passionate about.

Over a course of 4-5 weeks of 2 hour sessions, I will give you the skills and knowledge you need in order to create a positive, serene, relaxed and empowering birth that is right for you whatever your birth journey may be.

I look forward to working with you soon, hopefully passing on passion for a beautiful birthing journey.
